UWNCO’s United Way of Wyandot County Establishes Endowment Fund at Wyandot County Community Foundation

On October 4, Wyandot County Community Foundation held their annual Grant Announcement event and announced the establishment of the first-ever United Way of Wyandot County Endowment Fund, ensuring an enduring legacy for United Way’s work in the Wyandot community.

“The United Way of Wyandot County endowment fund adds the benefit of financial advisors and planned growth to invested donations,” said Marty Stansbery of the UWNCO board of directors and United Way of Wyandot County advisory council. “Funds will continue to grow with earnings reinvested in the United Way programs that are helping people in the Wyandot County community.”

Endowment funds are a unique community foundation funding tool available for nonprofit organizations that can help protect and grow capital while providing donors the opportunity to make gifts that will continue to support the agency in perpetuity. The United Way of Wyandot County Endowment Fund is the first nonprofit organizational endowment established at the Wyandot County Community Foundation.

Jean Gottfried, board president of the Wyandot County Community Foundation, said the Foundation was excited to add the United Way endowment to their family of funds. “WCCF has enjoyed a good relationship with United Way of North Central Ohio as we worked together to plan Lunch and Learn programs for local nonprofits, and we see this endowment as a way for more community collaboration in meeting the needs of the residents of Wyandot County.”

“We have existing organizational endowment funds at Marion Community Foundation and Community Foundation for Crawford County,” said United Way of North Central Ohio executive director Amber Wertman, “and one of my goals for this year was to establish a fund in Wyandot County. Our successful Wyandot Designer Purse Bingo event this spring helped us reach that goal.”

The Wyandot County Community Foundation is a public charitable organization created to enrich the quality of life for individuals and families of Wyandot County. Funds are invested and managed by the Toledo Community Foundation. Learn more at wyandotcommunityfoundation.org.
