POET Biorefining Marion’s Annual Chili Cook-Off Benefits United Way

Team members help send weekend meals home for hungry children

POET Biorefining Marion held their second annual Chili Cook-Off this week, making it part of their United Way Campaign. The two day competition produced gallons of delicious chili while raising enough money to provide weekend backpack lunches for 22 local children at risk for food insecurity. POET Marion’s generosity brings attention to the issue of food insecurity in our community and to the efforts of our partners in ensuring that children have the resources and nourishment needed to excel in life and school. Many thanks to the POET Marion teammates who worked so hard to make the Chili Cook-Off a success, and for making a difference in our community.

The results of the 2019 Chili Cook-Off are:

Day One

  • Barbara Reitenbach, First Place Winner ($33.50)
  • Aaron Rollins, Runner-Up ($26.00)

Day Two

  • Eric Rice, First Place Winner and Back to Back Champion ($44.75)
