United Way works to advance the common good by focusing on the three building blocks for a good quality of life – education, financial stability and health. We recruit people and organizations from all across the county who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done, and we need you to join us. You can give, you can advocate and you can volunteer. When we work together toward a common purpose, we can solve problems that none of us can solve alone.
Advocate for your community.
When you advocate for United Way, you are really advocating for those things that will help us reach our community goals in the areas of education, financial stability and health. These are the same things that will create positive, long-term change for north central Ohio.
How Can I Advocate for United Way?
The first step is to educate yourself on the issues and barriers that stand in the way of a healthy and strong community – issues like low kindergarten readiness rates, poverty, and drug addiction, just to name a few. Give us a call and we will be happy to share the information we have and are using to drive our decisions.
We need people to use their voices and votes to speak up for education funding, fair wages, and for prevention programs for physical and mental health by:
- Writing letters of support for United Way’s work to the editor(s) of local publications
- Calling and writing to your legislators in support of United Way’s work
- Educating your friends and neighbors on what you’ve learned and how United Way is making a difference
- Adding your name to petitions for supportive national legislation.
